Eagles' Dom DiSandro voices ESPN's PGA Championship opening

The Philadelphia Eagles continue to see their brand and personalities expand beyond football, and this week, one of the organization's most recognizable figures took center stage on ESPN's coverage of the PGA Championship. Eagles' chief security officer, Dom DiSandro, voiced the opening for ESPN's coverage of the 108th PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club, bringing a Philadelphia-area flavor to one of golf’s biggest events.

The opening rounds of the PGA Championship tee off Thursday through Sunday in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, with nearly 200,000 spectators expected throughout the weekend. The PGA Championship returns to Delaware County for the first time since 1962, adding even more significance to the historic event.

DiSandro, affectionately known by Eagles fans as "Big Dom," has become one of the franchise's most popular personalities during the team's recent championship era. His appearance in ESPN's opening added another crossover moment for the Eagles organization as Philadelphia sports culture continues to gain national attention.

Delaware County native Braden Shattuck was the first golfer to tee off during the opening round at Aronimink. Joining him this week is 18-year-old caddie Beau Riviere, the youngest caddie in the field and a fellow member of Rolling Green Golf Club. Much of the attention throughout the tournament will center around golf superstars Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler, who both spent the week playing practice rounds at Aronimink ahead of Thursday’s opening round.

For Eagles fans, though, hearing DiSandro open ESPN’s broadcast served as another reminder of how recognizable figures from the franchise have become on a national stage.
