Eagles general manager Howie Roseman reiterates 'A.J. Brown is an Eagle' after Dontayvion Wicks trade
Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has repeated himself often this offseason when asked about the availability of wide receiver A.J. Brown. When asked about Brown’s availability after the trade with the Green Packers for wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks, little changed from Roseman’s answer.
“What do you think the odds are that I am answering this question any different than I answered anywhere else?” Roseman said. “50%, 75%? A.J. Brown is an Eagle.”
Roseman continues to hold his cards close to the vest and reveal little about his plans for Brown while Brown remains on the Eagles roster. One reason Roseman could be in no rush to trade Brown is that the Eagles will face a cap hit of more than $40 million on him before June 1 and will drop to less than $20 million if they wait after.
The speculation surrounding Brown stemmed from his openly expressing frustration with the Eagles offense and his role at various teams throughout last season. Last season, Brown posted his lowest numbers since his final year with the Tennessee Titans in 2021. He finished with 52 catches for 1,051 yards and 7 touchdowns.
The Eagles went 11-6 and lost in the Wild Card to the San Francisco 49ers. This offseason, the Eagles have brought in offensive coordinator Sean Mannion and offensive line coach Chris Kuper to replace Kevin Patullo and Jeff Stoutland.
