PHILADELPHIA ā This is a make-or-break year for Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.
If Hurts plays well in a new offensive scheme under Sean Mannion and helps the Eagles contend for another Super Bowl, he could strengthen his standing with the franchise and solidify himself as the long-term answer at quarterback.
If Hurts plays poorly next season and the Eagles fall short of expectations again, his future with the team could be in jeopardy.
That was made clear in ESPNās latest report, which detailed how some people within the Eaglesā organization are frustrated with Hurtsā unwillingness to adapt his playing style and his standoffish approach as a teammate.
Some faction of the team is reportedly unhappy with Hurts, and the Eagles have not signed him to a new extension as he enters the final year of guaranteed money on his current contract in 2026. Now, itās fair to wonder if the Eagles are confident Hurts is still their QB of the future or if theyāre starting to have doubts.
āI have seen those reports. ... I would say we have some faults. One of them is not being direct and honest with our players in our conversations with our players,ā Eagles general manager Howie Roseman told reporters on Tuesday at the Jefferson Training Health Complex. āFor us, if we have any issue with our players, we talk to them directly. So, from my perspective, from Nickās (Sirianniās) perspective, from Jeffreyās (Lurieās) perspective, weāre not hiding behind anything. We talk to our players directly.ā
Hereās what stands out: Roseman wasnāt asked about the fairness of the reports or their intent āhe was asked about the Eaglesā confidence in Hurts given those reports, and he didnāt offer a strong defense of his quarterback.
Roseman could have been more adamant that the report had no validity, but he didnāt deny the information in the story. He just didnāt like that it was written.

Itās interesting that the Eagles didnāt go to bat for Hurts entering a year where everyone is questioning his future. How they talk about him later in the offseason and during the season is worth keeping an eye on.
āI think that itās unfair,ā Roseman said about the reports. āItās unfair to have these articles written, but I understand itās also what sells at this point. So, yeah, I think itās unfortunate.ā
