NFL Mock Draft 2027 – BGN
I love the way too early NFL mock draft. Sure, things will look different a year from now (here’s our 2026 version from May 2025), but it’s a good way to preview some top names in the 2027 NFL Draft. This order is based on Super Bowl odds.
In Roob’s Eagles Observations: Will DeVonta Smith ever catch Harold Carmichael? – NBCSP
CAN DEVONTA CATCH HAROLD? It wasn’t that long ago it seemed A.J. Brown had a real chance to break Hall of Famer Harold Carmichael’s franchise record of 8,978 career receiving yards. Brown has averaged 81.2 yards as an Eagle and has 5,034 yards so three more seasons at his current rate would put him right there with Harold. Alas, those three more years are not going to happen. What about DeVonta? Could he make a run at Harold’s record? Absolutely. Smith hasn’t put up the numbers that A.J. has but he’s not far off and he’s a lot younger and of course has spent his entire career here. Smith has 5,019 yards as an Eagle and has averaged 63 per game, and he’s only 27. At his current pace he would need to play four more years here to catch Harold. He’s signed through 2028 at his current rate he’d catch Harold in 2029. The most impressive thing about DeVonta is his consistency. He’s one of only nine NFL players with at least 800 yards in each of the last five years. He’s only missed four games in his career because of injuries, and with A.J. gone he’s likely going to get more targets than ever, which means more yards than ever. If I had to rank the top five WRs in Eagles history, I’d go Mike Quick, Harold Carmichael, Tommy McDonald, DeSean Jackson and A.J. Brown, although you can make an argument that A.J. should be in front of DeSean. In the not-too-distant future, we may have to find a way to squeeze DeVonta onto that list.
NFL schedule history says Cowboys will open on the road – Blogging The Boys
The NFL has mastered the art of content, and nothing proves that like the annual schedule release. It is often noted how the league has turned the simple art of sharing when the games that we already know about (in terms of the opponents each team plays and the locations of the games in question) into a massive production. To be clear there are important details to all of this. For the Dallas Cowboys there is a massive difference in traveling to play the Philadelphia Eagles in September or December based on weather. You get the point.
Is Commanders’ Frankie Luvu heading towards a diminished role in 2026? – Hogs Haven
The Commanders now have a lot of guys who can get after the passer and Luvu can certainly be counted as one of them. Not having to drop back into zone coverage or try to carry a tight end up the seam will benefit him. I can see him being used on green-dog blitzes where he can sort of choose his path to the quarterback based on if the back stays in to block or goes out as a receiver. Jones may also choose to use him as a spy against mobile quarterbacks on passing downs. I also expect him to be off the field a lot more on 3rd-and-long situations than what we have seen the past two seasons. If the Commanders choose to play coverage and get after the quarterback with just a four-man rush, Luvu should be one of the guys on the sidelines. Simply due to the talent around him, I don’t see Luvu as a 90-100%-snaps-per-game player like he was in 2024-2025. I think his role will be defined by the teams Washington is playing and the strengths they possess.
NY Giants coach John Harbaugh: Nothing imminent with Odell Beckham Jr. – Big Blue ViewNew York Giants head coach John Harbaugh said Saturday that while he has had “three or four” conversations with Odell Beckham Jr. over the past week, no deal between the team and the Giants’ 2014 first-round draft pick is imminent. “The goal for right now is for him to train and get as ready as he can be,” Harbaugh said. “Then we’ll see where we’re at at that time.” Beckham, 33, did not play in the NFL last season. In 2024, Beckham caught just nine passes in nine games with the Miami Dolphins. Injuries and age have slowed Beckham, who is not the same player who electrified New York from 2014-2018, with four 1,000-yard receiving seasons in his first five NFL seasons.
