The Philadelphia Eagles are continuing to show interest in Penn State star and NFL draft prospect Nick Singleton.

The Eagles will host Singleton on a pre-draft visit on Wednesday, a source told PennLive.

Teams can bring up to 30 players in for a formal visit as a way to get to know the player better.

But local prospects (from a town inside a 50-mile radius) do not count toward that top-30 total. Singleton, a Shillington native, is not expected to count against that total.

This is just the latest example of the Eagles showing interest in Singleton during the pre-draft process.

Singleton and fellow Penn State running back Kaytron Allen met with the Eagles representatives at the NFL Scouting Combine in February in Indianapolis.

That came after Singleton and Allen met with the Eagles at the Senior Bowl in late January.

Obviously, the Eagles don’t need a starting running back with former Penn State star Saquon Barkley, the 2024 NFL Offensive Player of the Year, in the fold.

But the Eagles could use a Day 3 pick on a running back.

Tank Bigsby, Barkley’s primary backup, is a free agent after the 2026 season. Will Shipley, the 2024 fourth-rounder who hasn’t made much of an impact, is under contract through 2027. The Eagles signed veteran Dameon Pierce to a one-year deal, but there’s no guarantee he’ll be on the roster.

Singleton could be a difference-maker on both offense and special teams for the Eagles. The dynamic ball-carrier finished his career with a program-record 5,586 all-purpose yards, passing Barkley on the all-time list. Singleton also rushed for a program-record 45 rushing touchdowns.

Singleton, who broke his foot at the Senior Bowl, wasn’t able to work out at the NFL Combine or Penn State’s pro day. Some viewed that as a knock on his draft stock.

But Singleton was medically cleared on March 31, a source told PennLive, which is a good sign ahead of his NFL career.

Singleton is pegged as the No. 8 running back in the class and a fifth-round prospect, per The Athletic’s Dane Brugler.

The Eagles own four picks on Day 3 in next week’s NFL draft: two fourth-rounders (Nos. 114, 137), one fifth-rounder (No. 178) and one sixth-rounder (No. 197).

When asked at the Combine about the possibility of playing with Barkley in Philadelphia, Singleton cracked a smile.

“It would be crazy. I would love that,” said Singleton, who grew up in Berks County outside Philadelphia. “To stay home, play with Saquon, that would be really cool.”

We’ll see if the Eagles’ interest translates into Singleton staying in Pennsylvania next week.
