The New England Patriots are counting down the days until a potential blockbuster trade for Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver A.J. Brown.
If Philadelphia agrees to move on from their 1,000-yard wideout, it’ll likely happen closer to June. 1, and the Patriots will probably be on the opposite end of the deal. However, New England may not cruise to victory in the Brown sweepstakes this summer, as the Sharp or Square’s Simon Hunter revealed the Patriots’ unexpected competition for the three-time Pro Bowler.
"I know everyone swears A.J. is going to the Patriots,” Hunter stated Tuesday. “I've heard whispers about Green Bay (Packers) being another team that's sneakily in the conversation for A.J. Brown. Obviously, the Eagles already have a relationship."

“They just traded for (Dontayvion) Wicks from this Green Bay team. But when I heard that, it made sense after I saw what happened in the draft, right? They didn't really do anything offensively. They love their offense."
The Packers could certainly use some receiver help heading into the 2026-27 season. In addition to losing Wicks, Green Bay will also be without Romeo Doubs, its best WR from a season ago, as he inked a four-year deal with the Patriots in March.
While it’s clear the Packers aren’t the frontrunners to land Brown next month, they’ll have the same opportunity the Patriots will to pull off one of the biggest deals of the offseason. Offering the Eagles a future second-round pick seems like a must for an organization like Green Bay to get its foot in the door.
It’ll be interesting to see if Green Bay can outduel New England for arguably the best WR on the market.
