The Austrian international’s situation has become a growing talking point in recent weeks, with multiple figures weighing in on the negotiations. Speaking on the sidelines of Bayern’s match against VfL Wolfsburg, sporting director Eberl confirmed that talks are currently at an impasse.
“There are two positions that don’t align at the moment. We want to extend Konni’s contract, that’s a fact. Now we somehow have to find a way to bridge the gap regarding their expectations,” Eberl told Sky.
Laimer, who joined Bayern in the summer of 2023 and is under contract until June 30, 2027, has become an important squad player thanks to his versatility and work rate. By the end of his current deal, he would be 30 years old. Bayern have recently signalled a desire to maintain stricter financial boundaries in ongoing negotiations.
Reports suggest the Austrian, who is currently earning around €8–9 million per year, is seeking a salary closer to €15 million annually - a figure Bayern are not prepared to meet.
Honorary president Uli Hoeneß also addressed the situation, offering clear words on the club’s stance. “Konny is a player I greatly value. He’s extremely important for the team, as well as for the club’s public image. He works incredibly hard for the team,” Hoeneß told DAZN, “but he’s simply not Maradona. And players like that have to accept that there are limits.”
Despite the ongoing discussions, Eberl stressed that relations between all parties remain entirely professional.
“There’s absolutely no bad blood,” the Bayern sporting director added.

Laimer's current contract with Bayern Munich expires on June 30, 2027.
The talks are significant as they reflect Bayern's desire to maintain financial boundaries while trying to retain an important squad player.
