ECU Club Baseball looks to fundraise for NCBA World Series trip

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — As ECU fans await the postseason for Pirate baseball, there is one Pirate baseball team who has already punched their ticket to their respective World Series.

In walk off fashion, ECU Club Baseball earned their 10th berth to the NCBA World Series in Alton, IL with a 9-8 win over Virginia Tech to win the Mid-Atlantic Regional last weekend. The program will compete for their third national title and first since 2017.

In order to help cover various travel costs, the team is asking for donations ahead of their trip. A link to donate to the club can be found here.

“We fought the whole way through to finally pull through with the walk off,” team head coach Cam Hull said.

“It was was a great feeling to celebrate with the boys out there. And, you know, going to the World Series is a special feeling. Have to pay for travel, food, all that stuff. So it runs up a little bit. So if you guys can go help support the Pirates, all that stuff, feel free to help and donate.

“Two years ago we went and it was the best feeling we’ve had,” junior pitcher and club president Braeden Collins said.

“Last year we missed it by being able to get back this year 100%. I mean, it’s our biggest goal, but taking it all is obviously the main goal this season. Being this last minute, just donations, anybody seeing this, being able to donate towards our link. I know we have it up on our Instagram and Facebook, but just being able to give a little bit of money, whatever you can towards us helps it a lot.”

East Carolina will open World Series play against Creighton on Friday, May 22nd at 3:45 p.m. ET. Just like the College World Series in Omaha, eight teams will compete in a double-elimination format for the national title.
