Eddie Howe drops Anthony Gordon transfer hint amid Bayern Munich links

Eddie Howe has admitted that Anthony Gordon could leave Newcastle United in the summer transfer window amid interest from Bayern Munich.

The German giants have reportedly been in talks with the Magpies about a potential deal to sign the winger at the end of the season.

Gordon has a contract with Newcastle until 2030, but is reportedly open to joining Vincent Kompany’s side, who just missed out on this year’s UEFA Champions League final.

The Tyneside outfit will listen to offers for the England international, who is their top scorer with 17 goals, but are looking to receive a transfer fee of at least £75 million.

Gordon has not featured in any of the team’s last four Premier League matches, the first two of which were due to a hip flexor issue. He has been an unused substitute in their last two outings.

Howe admitted that having an eye on the future was part of the reason he has not been using the attacker in recent weeks.

“When you get to this stage of the season, part of what we will be doing we’ll be looking to next year, naturally, so yes,” he said.

“Anthony’s just come back from injury. I think the team has played well in his absence and with a partial view to the future, yes.”
