Stephan El Shaarawy is leaving Roma. The footballer has announced his farewell after ten years in the capital and leaves behind a memorable line: "I’m leaving, but a part of me will stay here."

Number 92 himself confirmed it with a video on his Instagram profile: he will leave Roma and depart as a free agent at the end of the season.

The Pharaoh says goodbye to the giallorossi after 346 matches, 65 goals and 50 assists.

El Shaarawy’s farewell message

"There are places that become home without you even realizing it. And then, one day, you realize it was much more than that... it was people, emotions, life. For me, these 10 years have been all of that. I arrived here with dreams, ambitions and a strong desire to prove myself. I leave with a full heart. Full of memories, of shared battles, of immense joy but also of difficult moments that made me grow, on and off the pitch.

In this environment I found genuine affection, sincere respect and a sense of belonging that goes beyond football. I always tried to honor this shirt in the most authentic way possible, giving everything, every day, holding nothing back. We wrote important pages together, living emotions that will remain unforgettable, like winning an international trophy that brought us even closer and that I will always carry inside me.

As time went by, the responsibilities grew, and wearing the captain’s armband was much more than a role: it was an immense honor and one of the greatest recognitions I could have received. A privilege I will always keep in my heart. Like all stories, this one too had a beginning and today it is nearing its end. It has been a particular season, difficult in part, but that is part of football and it does not change who I am or what I have always given.

The derby will be my last home match at the Olimpico. And there is no better match than this one to put on the line everything I have always sought in this sport: commitment, respect and dedication to this shirt, but above all my gratitude. Thank you to the club, which gave me the opportunity to grow as a man and as a footballer.
