As Longhorns football continues to build for the future, it received a positive update on the recruiting front on Wednesday. Toa Satele, who is a four-star prospect in the 2027 class, set his official visit with the Longhorns to be from June fifth to seventh. For Texas, it was welcome news as Satele is one of the top players on the board.
While Satele would be a welcome addition to Steve Sarkisian’s defense, he does face competition. During the recruiting process, the talented linebacker has received offers from Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, BYU, Miami, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, and Oregon. As the Mililani High star continues to weigh his options, his list of visits should continue to grow.
Currently, Satele is ranked as the fourth-best linebacker in his class by 247Sports. They also rank him as the best player from Hawaii and the 75th best player in the nation. That is partly why some of the best programs in the nation are making him a priority.
For many college and NFL teams, Satele is a familiar name. His father, Samson, was selected in the second round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. Now, Toa is hoping to follow in his father's footsteps by starting his college career with an elite program.
Although the Longhorns are still searching for their first commitment from the 2028 class, they have been busy building relationships. Sarkisian and his staff have made offers to four-star recruits such as Neimann Lawrence, Ian Thomas, Brysen Wright, Tytan McNeal, Austin Attalah, and Kameron McGee. Adding any of those players would give Texas a brighter future.
