Michigan State's basketball transfer target, Moustapha Thiam, is set to visit rival Michigan on Monday. Thiam, a 7-foot-2 center from Cincinnati, has been a key player in the transfer portal market.
A Michigan State basketball transfer portal target will reportedly visit one of the Spartans' rivals on Monday.
One of the top remaining transfer portal centers that Michigan State is pursuing will now visit the Spartans' archival on Monday. According to college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, Cincinnati transfer Moustapha Thiam will visit Michigan on Monday.
Late this week, Rothstein reported Michigan State was one of a few schools in contact with Thiam -- who is listed at 7-foot-2 and considered one of the top transfer portal centers on the market. In that report, the rival Wolverines were not mentioned as teams currently actively pursuing him, but that has apparently clearly changed.
Thiam has started all 65 games he's played in his first two seasons at Cincinnati, averaging double-digits in scoring in both seasons. This past year, he averaged 12.8 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game.
Michigan State is in desperate need of a transfer portal center addition, and are down to only a few remaining known targets at this time. Thiam is considered the top of those targets so it would be a real gut punch to the Spartans should he not only end up in green-and-white but also commits to the rival down the road. This will surely be something we have to monitor early next week.
