Emery gives update on Aston Villa duo ahead of quarter-final second leg
Unai Emery says Emi Martinez could feature in their Europa League quarter-final second leg against Bologna.
That is despite the goalkeeper pulling out of the starting 11 before the draw with Nottingham Forest on Sunday with a calf injury.
He has been back in training ahead of the game and Emery says he will be assessed before a final decision is made.
“Today he is training with us, Emiliano Martínez,” Emery said.
“Normally, he is going to be available for tomorrow. And tomorrow we will decide.”
Emery has also not ruled out Jadon Sancho from featuring as Villa look to book their place in the semi finals, leading 3-1 in the quarter-final tie from the first leg.
“He is coming back and, of course, he is a fantastic player,” Emery said on Sancho.
“He needs to be consistent, I think he has been demanding and he adapted in our structure, progressively getting better.
“It’s a pity in the last two weeks he’s been injured because he finished before the break fantastic.
“And now we are playing matches to check everything and to get our objectives collectively.
“Individually, hopefully, we can get the best of him. This is our challenge as well.”
