NEW DELHI: A long chapter in Mumbai Indians history has come to an end, with former India all-rounder Robin Singh officially announcing his departure from the franchise after a 16-year association.
Robin confirmed on Friday that he has parted ways with both Mumbai Indians and their overseas sister franchise MI Emirates, bringing to a close one of the longest support-staff stints in franchise cricket.
“I’d like to share that I have officially parted ways with the Mumbai Indians. Although I have not been part of their IPL staff since 2022, as of this year also with their team in the Emirates league,” Robin wrote in a social media post.
He also thanked the franchise and fans for their support over the years.
“Thank you to the entire MI family and the fans for the support through this remarkable journey of mine since 2010. Wishing the franchise good luck in the years ahead.”
Robin joined Mumbai Indians in 2010 and became a key figure behind the scenes during the franchise’s most successful era. He was part of the setup during all five IPL title-winning campaigns and also contributed to the team’s two Champions League Twenty20 triumphs.
Key role beyond IPL
Though his direct role with MI’s IPL unit ended in 2022, Robin remained involved in the wider Mumbai Indians network. He served as general manager of MI Emirates during the inaugural International League T20 season in 2023 and was later elevated as head of the franchise in 2024.
His exit marks the end of a significant coaching era for the franchise, where he worked alongside several title-winning squads.
Before his coaching career, Robin represented India in 136 ODIs, scoring 2,336 runs and taking 69 wickets. He later became one of the most sought-after coaches in T20 leagues around the world.
