ESPN's Adam Schefter predicts that the Indianapolis Colts will trade cornerback Kenny Moore II during the upcoming NFL Draft weekend. He suggests that teams looking for a slot cornerback may make a move on 'Day 2' or 'Day 3' of the draft.

According to ESPNâs Adam Schefter on âThe Pat McAfee Showâ with host Pat McAfee, he anticipates that the Indianapolis Colts will complete a trade for veteran slot cornerback Kenny Moore II around late Aprilâs upcoming NFL Draft weekend:
âI think that you will see a slew of moves made draft weekend,â Schefter said on Mondayâs âThe Pat McAfee Show. âTo me, it wouldnât surprise, (if) âDay 2â or âDay 3,â we saw Kenny Moore dealt at that point in time to a team that likes him, that didnât get a slot cornerback that it wanted.â
âYou always see moves like that made around the draft. I think thatâs the first and next window to see a Kenny Moore trade here âDay 3â or so, and look itâs out there, people will know that heâs available, and it sounds like he and the Colts have had very amenable conversations. Theyâre both on the same page here. And now, itâs only a matter of where heâs sent to during the draft I would guess.â
Logically, it makes sense that the draft could be the leagueâs next expected window of a multitude of moves, where teams typically are more active and looking to wheel-and-deal.
The Colts are likely hoping for an early âDay 3â draft pick in return for the 30-year-old former Pro Bowl slot cornerback, whoâs played his entire standout 9-year career in Indianapolis to-date.
Moore II is coming off a 2025 season for the Colts in which he recorded 55 tackles (34 solo), an interception (*returned for a touchdown), 6 passes defensed, 1.5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles in 14 games (7 starts). However, Moore II wasnât as natural of a fit in new veteran Indianapolis defensive coordinator Lou Anarumoâs scheme.
Per PFF this past season, Moore II was still tied for their 37th best graded cornerback with a +66.7 overall grade, which was highlighted by a +84.4 run defense grade.
As the Colts have looked to get younger on defense collectively, having also traded former All-Pro veteran linebacker Zaire Franklin, Indianapolis has elected to move on from another one of their longtime veteran defensive leaders now. Moore II was a 3x âWalter Payton Man of the Year Awardâ nominee for the franchise.
Indy 2nd-year cornerback Justin Walley, who was impressive in training camp before tearing his ACL, appears to be the ânext man upâ at the starting slot cornerback position as Moore IIâs replacement. However, with veteran Charvarius Wardâs lingering concussion history, it wouldnât be surprising if the Colts took another dip at cornerback again, with Indiana Universityâs DâAngelo Ponds as a potential prospect to watch at the position.
Keep in mind, that before the Colts traded for All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner at the trade deadline last year, it was the rookie Walley, prior to the ACL injury, who was initially starting in training camp on the outside opposite Ward. From that standpoint, the Colts arenât penciling in Walley purely as a slot cornerback at the next level.
The NFL Draft weekend in 2025 is scheduled for late April.
The Colts and Kenny Moore II have had positive discussions, and the draft presents an opportunity for teams to trade for players they need, such as a slot cornerback.
Teams that did not secure a slot cornerback during the draft are likely candidates to trade for Kenny Moore II.
Kenny Moore II is a veteran slot cornerback for the Indianapolis Colts, known for his playmaking ability, including interceptions.
