Now, according to a new report from The Athletic, ESPN is preparing to give Schrager his own platform this fall.
âAccording to sources briefed on ESPNâs plans, a show centered on Peter Schrager is the likely winner for the 2 p.m. hourâ following McAfeeâs show, The Athleticâs Andrew Marchand reported.
The ESPN daytime lineup has been in flux since âAround the Hornâ left the 5 p.m. time slot after 23 years in May 2025. The network hoped to find a successful lead-in to the popular âPardon the Interruptionâ hosted by Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon at 5:30 p.m. It even toyed with the idea of making âPTIâ an hour-long show, per Marchand.
Fortunately, ESPNâs flagship show, âSportsCenter,â produced strong ratings in the 5 p.m. slot. It is likely to remain there this fall, Marchand reported.
Schragerâs 2 p.m. show would replace an hour-long âSportsCenter.â
Last month, Schrager said his move to ESPN has been rewarding. He helped start âGood Morning Footballâ on NFL Network in 2016. But then he decided to depart after the show moved from New York to Los Angeles.
âItâs been an unbelievable experience so far,â Schrager said in an interview with Barrett Media. âI, like so many of us, grew up watching ESPN. Thatâs the gold standard. When I made the move, it was a bit of a leap. But I would be lying if I told you it wasnât a 100 out of 100 experience and Iâve absolutely loved it.â
