Everton to file PGMOL complaint after being denied a penalty at West Ham

Fernandes appeared to touch the ball while trying to stop Barry, but the referee waved play on despite protests from the Everton players.

The VAR didn’t make the situation any better as they stuck with the on-field referee’s decision.

According to the Premier League’s official match updates, the incident was judged to be accidental, with Fernandes’ arm movement considered part of a natural tussle rather than a deliberate action.

However, that explanation has done nothing to ease the frustration at Everton.

The Toffees are now preparing to raise their concerns as they seek clarity on the decision-making process and the VAR’s inconsistency.

“I think it would be (a penalty),” Moyes said. “It’s still pretty harsh on Fernandes, but he certainly punches the ball out, he puts his arms around (Barry).

“It’s not as if the ball comes onto his hand, his arm goes towards the ball.”

Everton have had several controversial calls go against them, but they still have plenty to play for in the remaining four fixtures.
