LSU women's basketball experienced several changes to its roster following the 2025-26 season. Head coach Kim Mulkey lost multiple contributors, from starters to key reserves.
The Tigers remained largely unaffected by departures over the Mulkey era, but the 2026 spring window felt different. She said publicly that the team expected to lose just one player to the transfer portal, but ended up down four players.
One of those four players included the starting point guard. Jada Richard and MiLaysia Fulwiley battled back and forth for the role, but Richard prevailed ahead of her second season in Baton Rouge. The pair shared responsibilities, though Fulwiley took on a larger scoring role.
LSU signed the nation's top 2026 high school class with four players. Half of that group moved on to other schools at the conclusion of their freshmen seasons. Luckily for the Tigers, Grace Knox and ZaKiyah Johnson remain in Baton Rouge. Both earned starts throughout the year.

Perhaps the biggest surprise for the Tigers, Richard decided to transfer after holding the starting point guard role for the entire season. The LSU coaching staff praised Richard for putting in offseason work and making a major jump between year one and two at the college level.
The rising junior, likely in search of a larger scoring role, stayed within the SEC and transferred to Ole Miss. Richard, a Louisiana native, averaged 9.5 points per game and totaled 117 assists. She scored 10 or more points in six of her last eight games and 10 of LSU's conference games. Richard scored a career-high 21 points in a win at Oklahoma.
Hines earned more playing time down the stretch of SEC play, giving the Tigers a spark off the bench on both ends of the court. In their regular-season game against South Carolina, Hines shut down a sharp-shooting Tessa Johnson, who scored 14 points in the first half.
The guard could've competed for a starting role in Baton Rouge but will head to the Big 12 instead. Hines committed to TCU, which developed a reputation for scoring big in the transfer portal. She averaged 4.2 points per game in her lone season donning the purple and gold.

Mulkey expected Bourrage to enter the transfer portal. The guard fell behind Fulwiley and Hines on the depth chart. The caliber of guards Mulkey brought in from the portal and Fulwiley staying put meant Bourrage would've struggled to see meaningful minutes.
Bourrage averaged 2.1 points per game and saw most of her minutes during mop-up time. She missed LSU's last two games of the season due to a concussion but will get a fresh start in the Big Ten. She will play for Illinois next season.
Gilbert began her second season in Baton Rouge as a key reserve, playing the first five games before taking a leave of absence. She did not return to the team and her last game was against Tulane on November 17.
The guard moved onto Texas A&M, her third school. Gilbert played her first two years at Arizona before heading to Baton Rouge. As a junior, she averaged 9.1 points per game and played 37 games with the Tigers. Given LSU's backcourt talent heading into next year, she likely wouldn't see meaningful minutes.
