The 2025 Topps Chrome Football cards will launch on April 15, marking the brand's return to the NFL after a decade. This release features unique memorabilia, an extensive autograph checklist, and aims to redefine premium football cards for collectors.
For Topps, returning to the NFL after a 10-year hiatus serves as an aggressive push to completely redefine what a premium football card can deliver, moving far beyond mere nostalgia.
“We’re not resting on our laurels,” explained Luraschi. “We’re trying to come to work every day and make the best products possible, and make the best ones better.”
A major driving force behind that evolution is the highly collaborative, renewed relationship with the league itself. Rather than take the easy road, Topps worked hand-in-hand with the NFL to develop game-worn memorabilia programs that require intense, on-field logistical coordination.
“We have true partnerships with the league, and they’re helping us do things that the industry has never seen before,” Luraschi stated, confidently predicting that these new additions “will go down as two of the most important trading card programs for years to come.”
Those programs center heavily on the integration of historic, verified memorabilia. Fanatics Collectibles CEO Mike Mahan recently made a bold promise: “Next season we are going to have more game-used product than in any product in the history of the NFL.” Here is how 2025 Chrome is kicking that off:
That deep integration extends directly to the players, producing an autograph checklist that captures a unique historical moment for the hobby. Because of the long gap between licenses, this release marks the very first Topps autograph in an NFL uniform for the vast majority of active athletes on the field today, a reality Luraschi simply calls “a huge milestone in collecting.” Because of the massive anticipation for the brand’s return, Topps built an expansive checklist featuring nearly 300 athlete signers to ensure they met market demand. “We didn’t want to go short,” Luraschi said. “If anything, we wanted to go big.”
The insert lineup for 2025 Topps Chrome is taking some massive, highly stylized swings alongside returning fan-favorites like *Ultra Violet*, *Helix*, *Fanatical*, and *Radiating Rookies*.
To tie it all together, Topps structured the box configurations to ensure the ripping experience is loaded with variety, offering a guaranteed Rookie Card in every single pack. Here is what to look out for:
