Inzaghi left Inter shortly after an embarrassing loss to Paris Saint-Germain in last season’s Champions League final.
However, the 50-year-old guided the club to two Champions League finals in three years before departing to the Middle East.
Furthermore, Inzaghi won two Serie A titles with the Nerazzurri during his highly successful stint at San Siro.
“Inter were strong and well-coached,” Viviano said. “Chivu did a masterpiece, given his lack of experience.
“He managed to lead Inter to at least one trophy, but Inzaghi did incredible things at Inter, reaching two Champions League finals,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Chivu has continued to build on the solid foundations left by his predecessor.
Indeed, the 45-year-old is one step away from lifting the Scudetto and could also secure Coppa Italia glory.
Achieving that feat would see him become the first Inter manager since Jose Mourinho to win a domestic double.
