Ex-Titans' CB L'Jarius Sneed's assault charges dismissed

When free agency hit this year, Tennessee Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi and head coach Robert Saleh put their heads together and decided to release veteran cornerback L'Jarius Sneed. Sneed was originally traded to the Titans from the Kansas City Chiefs, with the Titans immediately signing him to a four-year deal worth over $76 million. The deal was based on his previous production, although the Titans were criticized for the contract because of Sneed's perceived character flaws.

One of those flaws included an aggravated assault charge after an incident in December 2024 at a car dealership in Carrollton, Texas. The charge was eventually dropped to a misdemeanor, and now, it seems, the veteran cornerback's legal troubles relating to this matter have concluded.

With his legal troubles seemingly out of the way and no ties to any team, Sneed is free to sign with any team that makes him an offer.

The thing is, during his last two seasons with the Titans, Sneed appeared in just 12 games. He recorded 49 tackles (37 solo), three passes defensed, and 3.5 stuffs. Considering he topped all of that in his final season with the Chiefs, Sneed has his work cut out for him. He's battled injuries, to be sure, which doesn't help his case.

Sneed was an utter disappointment in Tennessee, and he hasn't given any NFL team a reason to believe he's worth taking a chance on. He will hang on, though, and before the summer is over, he will likely have a new deal somewhere with a desperate team that suddenly has a cornerback shortage. Even if that happens, it's unlikely he ever regains the production he began his career with.
