One UFC veteran wasnât happy with Dana Whiteâs reaction to the recent shooting near the White House, especially after he called it âawesome.â
The UFC president is heading to Washington, D.C., soon for a special fight card on the White House lawn.
White was also in the area ahead of that event, attending last Saturdayâs White House Correspondentsâ Dinner.
White was at the Washington Hilton when news broke of a gunman opening fire outside. Despite the serious situation, he didnât seem too bothered by what happened.

Speaking to USA Today, White described the incident as âawesome,â going into detail about his experience at the event.
âIt was fâing awesome,â he said. âI literally took every minute of it in, and it was a pretty crazy, unique experience. We were sitting right in front of the table, right in front of where the president was.
âNobody got tackled, but guys came in looking for shooters and they came toward our table. I thought the shooter was over by us or something.â
The shooter, identified as a 31-year-old schoolteacher and computer engineer, fired shots in the lobby before being apprehended. A Secret Service agent was struck during the incident.
Brown addressed this during an episode of MMA Fightingâs The Fighter vs. The Writer, pushing back against Whiteâs choice of words.
Brown knows firsthand what itâs like to be caught up in a shooting. He was at a 2004 Damageplan concert when four people were killed.
With that background, Brown didnât hold back on his feelings about how White reacted to Saturdayâs events.

âIâve been there when there was a shooting going on, which most people probably havenât,â Brown said. âIt is not awesome in any sense of the word. It is not fâing cool one bit.â
âFor him to say that, I did not appreciate that. Not that my opinion matters whether I appreciate it, but thereâs people whose lives are at risk there,â he continued.
Footage also emerged showing how calm White remained while the shooting happened around him.
While both he and several government officials were clear from any immediate danger, itâs worth remembering one agent did end up being shot â although reports later confirmed he is expected to recover fully.
