Former UFC welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena and Top 5 170-pound contender Carlos Prates recently came face-to-face for the first time ahead of their five-round UFC Perth headliner, scheduled for this Sat. night (May 2, 2026) on Paramount+ from inside RAC Arena in Perth, Western Australia.
Have a look:
UFC has them listed at 5’11” (Maddalena) and 6’1” (Prates).
Della Maddalena (18-3) surrendered his strap to Islam Makhachev at UFC 322 last fall. As for Prates (23-7), he was last seen putting the screws to former titleholder Leon Edwards on the very same fight card. “The Nightmare” opened as a slight betting favorite on the UFC Perth moneyline.
“We both sort of get into a flow, both of us get into a violent flow,” Della Maddalena told MMAjunkie.com. “I think it’s gonna be fireworks. There’s definitely not gonna be much dancing around. I think the first minute we’re definitely gonna engage. We’re gonna engage and see who’s the better fighter and then build into the five rounds… I think I’m gonna take him out fifth round. I’m gonna get the finish deep in the fight.”
