The Atlanta Falcons could be in the market for defensive reinforcements early on Day 2 of the NFL Draft, and linebacker CJ Allen is emerging as a strong potential fit following the departure of Kaden Ellis in free agency.

Losing Ellis leaves a noticeable void in the middle of Atlanta’s defense, particularly in terms of leadership, instincts, and sideline-to-sideline production. That’s where Allen’s profile becomes especially appealing. Known for his high football IQ and discipline, Allen consistently puts himself in the right position to make plays — a trait that defensive coordinators value highly when plugging gaps in the middle of the field.

Allen’s game is built on instincts and efficiency. He shows strong eye discipline, rarely biting on misdirection, and has the ability to read plays quickly as they develop. Against the run, he’s decisive and physical, shooting gaps with confidence and playing downhill to disrupt ball carriers.
