Falcons hire former Eagles exec to prominent front office role
The Atlanta Falcons have made some changes to their front office following the 2026 NFL Draft, hiring Bryce Johnston as their new SVP of football administration, according to a report from NFL Network insiders Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero.
"Falcons have hired Eagles exec Bryce Johnston as SVP of Football Adminstration/Senior Personnel Executive," Garafolo wrote on social media. "Johnston will lead salary-cap strategy, serve as lead contract negotiator and be a key advisor to Ian Cunningham and Matt Ryan for roster building and long-term strategy."
Johnston, who will also serve as Atlanta's senior personnel executive, replaces former senior director of football of administration Chris Olsen. According to Pelissero, the Falcons parted ways with Olsen after 18 seasons.
"The Falcons and Senior Director of Football Administration Chris Olsen have parted ways, per sources," reported Pelissero. "Olsen has 18 years of club experience negotiating player, coaching and front office contracts and managing the salary cap. He also worked at the NFL Management Council for over 12 years. Just the latest change in Atlanta, which continues to overhaul its front office."
The Falcons are going in a new direction under Ryan, Cunningham and head coach Kevin Stefanski. It's interesting to see this move come immediately after the 2026 NFL Draft. The team acquired six players over the weekend and another 14 undrafted free agents over the weekend.
