The Atlanta Falcons have released punter Trenton Gill, team reporter Tori McElhaney announced on Monday afternoon. Gill signed with the Falcons' practice squad late in the season but was not active for any games despite being elevated for the 2025 finale against the New Orleans Saints.
The Falcons signed Gill to a future/reserve contract after the season ended, but now that they've signed veteran punter Jake Bailey and kicker Nick Folk, there was no need for another specialist.
Prior to signing with Atlanta last season, Gill spent two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Chicago Bears originally selected Gill in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of N.C. State. Over his first three seasons, Gill averaged 45.6 yards per punt on 160 total attempts.
