Anton Bonke, a transfer center from Charlotte, has committed to Michigan State basketball, expected to be a starter next season. His addition aims to fill the void left by departing players Carson Cooper and Jaxon Kohler.
Michigan State basketball picked up a transfer portal commitment on Wednesday, and as you would expect, there were opinions on social media about the move. Charlotte transfer center Anton Bonke committed to the Spartans out of the portal on Wednesday afternoon, filling a massive void in the post. He will step in as an expected starter for Michigan State next season, helping solidify one of the biggest question marks for the Spartans following the graduation of Carson Cooper and Jaxon Kohler. Bonke started his career at Providence but transferred to Charlotte ahead of this past season where he had a breakout campaign. He started nearly every game for the 49ers, averaging 10.6 points, 8.3 rebounds and 25.6 minutes per game. Michigan State had to beat out the likes of Kansas, Gonzaga, Cincinnati, NC State and Arkansas for his commitment. So what did those who support or cover the Spartans feel about the addition of Bonke? Let's take a look at some of the top reactions from fans, media and future teammates below:

— Fireball sommelier (@Sheehan\_Sports) April 22, 2026 The three point line is the massive swing skill for him on that end. If he can shoot 33-34% taking two a game it helps with the entire floor spacing. MSU has a pretty good track record of taking bigs who show flashes of 3PT shooting and increasing their volume/%

— College Sports Only (@CSOonX) April 22, 2026 I’ll be honest and say that I would have preferred to see MSU go after a Bidunga, Thiam, Cyril, Sylla, etc type but Bonke is a solid addition. Will be nice to have a 7 footer on the team. Had interest from some other really good programs (Kansas, Gonzaga, Arkansas, etc). I think…
