The Deacs have their 6th addition of the offseason with FAU big man Xander Pintelon.
Pintelon is a 6-11, 220 pound forward who averaged 6.2 points and 3.7 rebounds in 18 minutes per game for the Owls this season. While he finished the season shooting just 40% from the floor, over 60% of his shots came from beyond the arc, where he shot 35% for the season. His best game of the year came in an 85-80 loss to UCF, where he finished with 20 points (4-8 from 3), 4 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Before playing at FAU, Pintelon played semi-pro in his home country of Belgium, mostly in the BNXT league. He was also a member of Belgium’s national team.
Based off his highlights, Pintelon has solid ball handling skill and athleticism for a player of his height. He can shoot the 3 on the pick and pop and on the move, and obviously with over 60% of his shots coming from beyond the arc, he much prefers the long ball to playing in the post. The big question will be whether or not he can rebound in the ACC, as he has a bit of a lighter frame for his height at a listed weight of 220 pounds. Either way, Pintelon gives the Deacs 2 players 6-11 or taller next season, and height is something that cannot be taught. Check out some of his highlights below.
