Florida baseball has climbed in national rankings after a successful weekend, now sitting at No. 18 in the USA Today Coaches Poll and making significant jumps in other rankings. The Gators achieved a series win against Georgia and defeated Florida State 4-3.
Florida baseball is once against soundly represented in all of national rankings this week.
The Gators (27-10, 9-6 SEC) went 3-1 last weekend against top 10 teams. UF defeated Florida State 4-3 during the midweek, and then pulled off an upset series win over Georgia. Florida beat the Bulldogs 8-2 on Friday, fell short 5-1 on Saturday and capped of the weekend by holding on for a 13-7 victory on Sunday.
In the USA Today Coaches Poll, the Gators moved up six spots to No. 18. Nine other SEC teams were featured in the poll with three included in the top 10.
In the D1baseball.com rankings, Florida went from being unranked to No. 20, while vaulting from to No. 21 to No. 7 in Baseball America's rankings. In Perfect Game, the Gators soared up 11 spots to No. 11.
As of April 14, Florida’s rating percentage index (RPI), which is used to judge strength of schedule, stands at No. 4. The Gators are 10-1 when facing top 25 teams, and lead the country with 11 Quadrant 1 victories.
Florida will host Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday, March 31, and then Auburn from April 16-18.
