Florida basketball could be gearing up for another special run in 2026-27.
Star forwards Thomas Haugh and Alex Condon have already announced they will forgo the NBA draft to return to school, and the Gators could also be set to bring back reigning National Defensive Player of the Year Rueben Chinyelu, who is currently testing the draft waters.
With UF potentially set to bring its Big 3 back, it seems Todd Golden is fully intent on running things back in Gainesville.
Golden's name had been mentioned previously for the open North Carolina job, and he's also been tied to potential NBA openings. This week, rumors circulated that Golden could be a target if Steve Kerr were to leave the Golden State Warriors.
At a press conference on Wednesday, Golden said his intention is to coach Florida next season.
"I'm definitely planning on coaching the Gators," he said.
UF is currently projected to be the preseason No. 1 team in the country. Golden, who became the youngest coach since Jim Valvano to win a national championship in 2025, could have a shot at winning his second national title and securing a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament for the third straight season.
