Florida football cemented another cornerstone for its future offensive line with the signing of four-star tackle Elijah Hutcheson. It's a unit that is shaping up to be one of the nation's best â the Gators also signed No. 4 overall prospect, five-star OT Maxwell Hiller, and four-star OL Peyton Miller last month.
The 6-foot-5-inch, 275-pound Roanoke, Virginia, native ranks among the best at his position in the 2027 class. Hutcheson chose Florida over Clemson, Virginia Tech and Vanderbilt, who he identified as finalists in his recruitment.
Phil Trautwein's group is quickly becoming one of the program's strongest position corps in the 2027 cycle. Hutcheson adds athleticism and physicality to an offensive line class filled with star power and projected multi-year starters at the SEC level.
The conference is defined by its physicality at the line of scrimmage. The teams that win in January are fortified in the trenches, heavily investing in dominance up front. Jon Sumrall and Co.'s stacking of high-end offensive line talent continues to establish an identity in Gainesville; the combination of depth and long-term upside provides the Gators with plenty of ammunition on the recruiting trail.
Momentum has been the word trending during Sumrall's introductory campaign at Florida. In a matter of months, the former Tulane head coach has seemingly shifted the perception and culture of a once floundering program. Florida is now routinely competing for the nation's top talent once again.
Elijah Hutcheson's Recruiting Summary
Hutcheson is ranked No. 85 overall and No. 7 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite, while the Rivals industry ranking has him at Nos. 91 and 7, respectively. He had 27 total offers, including seven other SEC schools, among them Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia.
