Florida Gators continue red-hot recruiting streak, securing top commitment over bitter rival

2027 four-star Jenks (OK) Kailib Dillard Rivals

It’s another massive win for Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall, landing his 12th commitment in the 2027 recruiting class.

Recruiting has been a major focus for the Florida Gators. Head coach Jon Sumrall has been on fire since the beginning of April, and it’s continuing. He landed another four-star recruit in safety Kailib Dillard, marking him the first commitment from the state of Oklahoma. The Gators landed him over the Oregon Ducks and Georgia Bulldogs.

It’s a major win for the Gators to get a commitment from Dillard, who becomes the first safety in the 2027 class, adding to the secondary with four-star cornerback Aamaury Fountain and four-star cornerback Amare Nugent. It’s also the second commitment of the day, with four-star offensive tackle Elijah Hutcheson committing earlier in the day.

• Head coach Jon Sumrall entered the month of May with 10 commitments. Last season, Billy Napier had just two.
• Kailib Dillard is the second safety to give Sumrall a commitment since arriving in Gainesville, with the first being Elijah Owens in the 2026 class.

Florida Gators land commitment from four-star safety Kailib Dillard

This is a really nice addition for the Gators. His brother, Malakai, was a wide receiver in the 2026 class. Kailib is a really good run defender, fitting the run extremely well from the roof as a point and shoot safety. He’s more than willing to play the run with physicality and consistency. Dillard also flashes good ball skills in coverage, seeing the ball well in the air, and attacking the ball. He’s got some really good ball skills as well, something that comes from his skill set as a wide receiver.
