Florida football has moved up to No. 6 in the Rivals team recruiting rankings after securing two four-star commitments. The Gators surpassed Georgia, which is now ranked ninth, as they continue to build a strong 2027 recruiting class.
Rising one spot after its most recent signings, Florida football climbed to No. 6 in the Rivals team recruiting rankings. The Gators now boast nine commits with a four-star rating or better.
On Tuesday, Jon Sumrall's program secured a pair of four-star prospects in defensive lineman Elijah Hutchenson and defensive back Kailib Dillard. The commitments from that pair of prospects pushed the Gators ahead of the Georgia Bulldogs, who are now ranked ninth.
Even before this week's back-to-back commitments, Florida had already boasted one of the top classes nationally. Momentum continues to build around the program after an impressive spring recruiting run that also saw them sign five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller. Stacking blue-chip talent is a standard criterion for SEC contention and Florida is on the path to re-establish itself as a factor in the college football conversation.
What should excite Gator Nation is that Sumrall and company aren't done yet. While the Orange and Blue are building a complete 2027 class, the Gators have their eyes on more game changers. Widely regarded as one of the cycle's principal offensive targets, five-star athlete Easton Royal visited Gainesville back in March, although he is committed to the Texas Longhorns; ranked no. 9 overall in the class, a signing from the New Orleans native could lift the class further toward the top.
Surpassing Georgia, even if just temporarily, has a symbolic significance. The Bulldogs have won two college football national championships this decade and each of those title runs began on the recruiting trail. So, for Florida, this class could mark a shift towards contention down the line.
