The biggest question facing every WNBA team in training camp
WNBA training camps open with key questions for each team.
Florida State freshman running back Amari Thomas has made a strong impression during spring practice, showcasing a tough running style. He was a highly-ranked recruit in the 2026 class, coming off a successful high school season with over 1,800 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns.
Florida State has high expectations for sophomore running back Ousmane Kromah as he takes the next step in his development. Transfer Tre Wisner is expected to contribute in a big way, and Samuel Singleton is a nice veteran option to have.
In the 2026 recruiting class, FSU was able to land one of the most intriguing running backs in the cycle in Amari Thomas. If one thing is for certain, he hasn't let his first experience of the spring program at Florida State overwhelm him, as Thomas has looked as good as advertised, Noles247's Zach Blostein reported.
True freshman running back Amari Thomas has impressed this spring. A source described him as a 'SEC back' who they think will have more success as a two-down back who can thrive while running through the tackles. It does not sound like he has breakaway speed but has impressed onlookers with his tough, physical running style.
Thomas was the 11th-ranked prospect in FSU's 2026 class out of 34 commitments. He's coming off a strong senior year at Blountstown High School. The 5-foot-11, 195-pounder registered 1,825 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns while also gaining 228 yards receiving on 10 receptions and putting up three scores as a pass catcher.
The faster Thomas can get accustomed to what offensive coordinator Tim Harris Jr. wants to do, the more of a threat Florida State will be to run the ball in 2026. A combination of Thomas and Kromah could be lethal.
