The Philadelphia Flyers have officially recalled defenseman David Jiricek from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in the AHL.
Jircek, 22, was acquired by Philadelphia from the Minnesota Wild at the trade deadline in exchange for forward Bobby Brink.
The former 6th overall pick from 2022 will now play for his 3rd NHL team since being selected. Jiricek started his career in Columbus with the Blue Jackets, before being traded to the Wild, and eventually the Flyers.
Once acquired by Philly, Jiricek was immediately assigned to the Phantoms, where he has been since. In 13 games with Lehigh Valley, the 6’3” RHD has 2 goals and 13 total points.
He is a power play monster, who could make a real difference with his big and accurate shot.
After this season, Jiricek is no longer waiver exempt. That would likely mean his time in the AHL has come to an end, without having to clear waivers first.
Jiricek will wear No. 5, last worn by Egor Zamula, and could naw his Flyers debut as early as Monday vs the Hurricanes.
