Fernando Torres has what it takes to become a future Liverpool manager, according to ex-Premier League striker Fernando Llorente.
Torres has built a reputation as an emerging coach at former club Atletico Madrid, where the 42-year-old coaches the club’s B team.
The Spaniard has taken his first steps into coaching with Atleti, following a decorated career that included 81 goals in 141 appearances for Liverpool.
Torres’ former teammate, Xabi Alonso, has been linked with taking charge at Anfield, should the Reds decide to move on from Arne Slot.
Slot’s position has come under scrutiny following a poor campaign for the champions, who are set to end the campaign without silverware and currently battling for Champions League qualification.
Former Spain striker Llorente has said Torres has what it takes to become a future Liverpool manager.
“Fernando Torres as Liverpool manager one day? Definitely,” Llorente told Hajper.
“He’s taken a different path to Cesc Fabregas, he has been patient and has preferred to start little by little with the youth team, gaining experience.
“I think Fernando will become a great coach because he had an incredible career, knows a lot about football and has surely been preparing for the right moment to make the jump.”
