WNBA training camps open with key questions for each team.
Monique Billings has signed a multi-year deal with the Indiana Fever after one season with the Golden State Valkyries. This marks her fifth WNBA team since being drafted in 2018.
A few days before a whole new crop of UCLA Bruins enter the WNBA, one former Bruin switched teams. Forward Monique Billings is once again leaving California, signing with the Indiana Fever after one season with the Golden State Valkyries.
Billings was acquired in the expansion draft by the Valkyries last season, putting up 7.3 points and 4.5 rebounds over 26 games. The Fever handed Billings a multi-year deal according to Chloe Peterson of IndyStarSports.
Indiana will be Billingsā fifth WNBA team since being drafted in the second round of the 2018 draft out of UCLA. Billings was a remarkable player at UCLA, being the programās leading rebounder and second in career blocks.
Billings also will join the Fever already having played alongside some of the teamās stars. Through FIBA and Unrivaled, Billings has played alongside new teammates Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell.
Over her eight-year career, Billings has put up 6.3 points and 5.6 rebounds with 0.7 steals and 0.5 blocks. Billings is at 45% from the field and 24% from three on very limited attempts from deep.
āFit is one of the most important things in the WNBA, so finding an organization that made me feel wanted and valued was a big factor during this process. At this point in my career, having fun while playing basketball is also very important to me, and Indiana checked all of the boxes,ā Billings said in the teamās release. āIām looking forward to building off a fruitful offseason including the synergy I gained playing with both Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark during that time, meeting the rest of my teammates and, of course, the fans. Letās get busy, Indy!ā
Could another UCLA Bruin join Billings in Indiana? The Fever own the 10th pick in the draft, which is well in the range for Kiki Rice, Gabriela Jaquez or Gianna Kneepkens.
Even if Billings isnāt joined by another Bruin, sheāll play the 2026 WNBA season alongside one of the sportās premiere stars in Clark.
