Ange Postecoglou is a candidate for the Bournemouth managerial position after Andoni Iraola announced he will leave at the end of the season. Postecoglou has not managed since his time at Nottingham Forest, which ended in October 2025.
Former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou in running for Bournemouth job
The Cherries revealed that Iraola – who was heavily linked with the Celtic job back in 2023 – will leave upon the expiry of his contract.
Postecoglou has been out of management since his short-lived stint at Nottingham Forest ended in October 2025.
The former Hoops boss has previously indicated he would prefer to take on his next role in the summer, allowing time to work with his squad during pre-season.
That timing could make the Bournemouth job an appealing option, and early betting odds place him among the leading contenders, with Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna currently viewed as the frontrunner.
Several other high-profile names have also been linked with the position, including Mauricio Pochettino, Marco Rose, Eddie Howe, Edin Terzic and Thomas Frank.

Since leaving Forest, Postecoglou has been working in a technical observer role for UEFA, though he has made it clear he is keen to return to management.
He said: “I’ve figured out that for me to do what I do, the start of pre-season is a good starting point, Jumping in mid-season – especially in the Premier League but in most leagues – is just probably too much of a challenge for the way I do things. That’s what I’m holding out for.”
“Where that is and what it looks like is hard to say at the moment, but I haven’t even scratched the surface of what I want to do over here yet and the impact I want to make, the football I want to play.”

Postecoglou has already revealed that he will NOT be coming back to Celtic after doing a lengthy interview with Gary Neville on The Overlap a few months ago.
