Joe Cole has put out a stark warning for Alejandro Garnacho as the winger continues to struggle at Chelsea.

Cole also had difficulties at Stamford Bridge, but was good enough to overcome them and earn his place.

“There’s always been signs he [Garnacho] can be a top player,” said Cole in quotes picked up by the Evening Standard.

“With Alejandro it can be the noise around him sometimes. To be fair to him, there’s not been too much this season. But when there’s historic issues [with Manchester United], then as a player you have to really toe the line.

“There’s so much scope for him to become a better player, but he has to really believe in it and really want to do it and really get on the right track.”

Garnacho not developing

After what we’ve seen in Garnacho’s career so far, it does seem fair to question his desire to improve. Many have pointed out that the 21 year old is the exact same player he was as an 18 year old. Talented but raw, with little end product and lots of lapses in concentration.
