The Atlanta Falcons announced Thursday that theyâve agreed to terms with Terrell on his rookie contract after selecting him with the No. 48 overall pick in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft. His four-year rookie deal is projected to be worth around $10.3 million, including close to a $4 million signing bonus.
That selection also reunites him with former Clemson standout A.J. Terrell, who was drafted by Atlanta in the first round back in 2020 and has become one of the Falconsâ top defensive players.
âBeing able to stay home and play with my brother, it has been a dream come true,â Avieon said after the draft. âItâs something we have always talked about and now it has happened. We feel good about it.â
Avieon wrapped up his Clemson career as one of the ACCâs most productive defensive backs. The 2025 All-American and Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist posted 46 tackles, 11 pass breakups, five forced fumbles and a career-high 3.0 sacks across 12 starts last season.
During his three years with the Tigers, Terrell totaled 128 tackles, 30 pass breakups, three interceptions, four sacks, eight forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries over 39 games. He earned All-ACC honors twice and set Clemson records for forced fumbles by a defensive back in both a single season and a career.
The Atlanta native also finished his Clemson career leading all cornerbacks nationally in forced fumbles over that span.
Now, heâll begin his NFL career alongside his older brother in their hometown. The Terrells also became the first set of Clemson brothers drafted by and set to play for the same NFL team.
