Wade Woodaz has signed a rookie contract with the Houston Texans after being selected in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft. His four-year deal is valued at approximately $5.5 million, including a $1.1 million signing bonus.
Wade Woodaz is officially under contract after the former Clemson linebacker signed his rookie deal with the Houston Texans on Wednesday.
Houston selected Woodaz in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft with the No. 123 overall pick, and his rookie contract is reportedly worth around $5.5 million over four years with a signing bonus of roughly $1.1 million.
Woodaz wrapped up his Clemson career as one of the defense’s most productive and reliable players. Across four seasons with the Tigers, he piled up more than 200 total tackles while contributing as both a pass rusher and coverage linebacker. He also made plays all over the field with interceptions, forced fumbles, pass breakups and even a blocked punt during his time in Death Valley.
Last season, Woodaz served as a team captain and started every game for Clemson, finishing with 77 tackles while helping lead the middle of the Tigers defense.
Clemson linebackers coach Ben Boulware didn’t hold back when describing what Houston is getting in Woodaz.
“Wade checks every single box of an elite NFL linebacker: size, speed, football intelligence, leadership, etc.,” Boulware said. “His best quality though? Dude’s a dog.”
Head coach Dabo Swinney also praised Woodaz’s growth throughout his career and believes the Texans landed one of the steals of the draft.
“They’re getting a steal in Wade Woodaz,” Swinney said. “He’s a leader, he’s a captain, he’s a gym rat. He loves the game. He’s long, he can run, he’s athletic.”
Swinney added that Woodaz’s versatility and preparation habits should allow him to contribute quickly at the next level, especially on special teams and in multiple linebacker roles. Houston currently features Woodaz as the lone former Clemson player on its roster.
