The New York Giants signed former Atlanta Falcons linebacker Khalid Kareem to their roster on Thursday. The former fifth-round pick spent the last two seasons in Atlanta, appearing in six total games and recording 11 tackles (five solo), one pass defended and one QB hit.
Kareem, 28, entered the league with the Bengals in 2020, spending two years in Cincinnati before landing with the Indianapolis Colts in 2022. After that, Kareem signed with the Chicago Bears in 2023 but appeared in just one game.
The veteran edge rusher now heads to New York where he will likely provide depth this season. The Giants hired head coach Jim Harbaugh after his 18-year run in Baltimore. New York also signed former Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney, who spent the last two seasons in Atlanta.
The Falcons let a few players walk in free agency, including edge rusher Leonard Floyd, quarterback Easton Stick and linebacker Josh Woods. Since all three remain unsigned, we wouldn't rule out a potential reunion at some point, especially as injuries take their toll.
