The Atlanta Falcons appear to have changed the position of former Georgia Bulldogs running back Cash Jones. The Falcons have transitioned Jones to wide receiver according to his former Georgia teammate Zachariah Branch. It remains to be seen if the change is permanent.
Jones participated in drills with the wide receivers at Falcons minicamp. Jones played running back at Georgia, but primarily was third-down back. His ability to catch the ball out of the backfield was his strongest trait.
The 6-foot, 180-pound playmaker caught 20 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown during his senior season at Georgia. Jones finished his Georgia career with more receiving yards (573) than rushing yards (253).
Jones also has a knack for making big plays on special teams like a blocked punt and a recovered onside kick during his time at Georgia. Still, despite Jones' versatility, he's a bit of a long shot to make the Falcons' 53-man roster before the 2026 NFL season. Jones is learning a new position and is adjusting to the speed of the NFL.
