Former Longhorn Jaylon Guilbeau has signed as an undrafted free agent with the Carolina Panthers. He recorded 124 tackles and one interception during his college career and aims to make an impact in the NFL.
After going undrafted, former Longhorn star Jaylon Guilbeau has found his first NFL home. The talented cornerback signed with the Carolina Panthers on Saturday night and will be part of a roster that includes a few players who also wore the burnt orange. While Guilbeau will have to fight for playing time, he is joining a team on the rise.
During his time as a Longhorn, Guilbeau recorded 124 tackles in 44 games. He also added one interception and 11 pass deflections to his resume. Regardless of the opponent, the Texas native frustrated offensive coordinators, becoming an important piece of head coach Steve Sarkisian's defense.
The newest Panther's best season came in 2024 when he set career highs in total tackles with 58 and sacks with one. He also had 5.5 tackles for a loss while playing in 16 games for the first time in his college career. Now he will be looking to replicate his success in Charlotte.
As Guilbeau begins his transition to the NFL, he will have a few Longhorns alumni to rely on. That includes running back Jonathan Brooks and tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders. They were productive pieces for a Panthers team that won the NFC South last season.
In Guilbeau, the Panthers are getting a player who flashed promise in the SEC. If the Memorial High Alum continues to improve his game, then Carolina should be very happy with their investment.
Now that Guilbeau knows where he will call home to start his NFL career, his focus will be on putting himself in the best position to help the Panthers make another playoff run.
