Former Michigan State guard Tre Holloman has entered the transfer portal again after a productive season at NC State. He will seek an extra year of eligibility to play college basketball.
One of the most divisive figures in recent Michigan State basketball history is back in the news. A year after shocking the MSU world by announcing his transfer to NC State, former Michigan State guard Tre Holloman is entering the portal for a second time, opting to leave NC State. Holloman, who just finished his senior year, will be applying for an extra year of eligibility to play one last year of college basketball.
While Holloman was lambasted by fans for his decision to leave MSU, he did have a productive season for NC State, averaging the most points and minutes per game of his career and shooting over 40 percent from three. Even so, Izzo hinted that Holloman had reached out after the season and said he made a mistake transferring out of East Lansing. While Izzo didn't name the player, there was an assumption it was Holloman who had reached out.
While a return to MSU would be a fun story, I personally think the ship has probably sailed on Holloman coming back to the Spartans, unless we see a player or two transfer. With Kur Teng, Divine Ugochukwu, Jasiah Jervis, Carlos Medlock, and Jordan Scott all on the roster, not to mention Jeremy Fears Jr. presumably coming back next year, Holloman probably missed his chance to play a last season in East Lansing.

During his season at NC State, Tre Holloman averaged the most points and minutes per game of his career, shooting over 40 percent from three-point range.
While there was speculation about a potential return to Michigan State, it seems unlikely due to the current roster composition and other players already in place.
