Jon Kenner, a former MLB prospect, died after getting into a rollover crash on Sunday, April 12. He was 35.
The incident occurred while Kenner, a dad of two, was on his way back from coaching a youth baseball tournament in his hometown of Santa Fe, Texas, according to multiple reports.
Kenner was returning from coaching the 14U HTX Battle Bucks at a Houston-area tournament when his vehicle veered off Farm to Market Road 2004, hit a utility pole, and overturned around 6:09 p.m. local time, according to Explore Jefferson, citing the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Kenner died on the scene.
He leaves behind his wife of four years, Kourtney Krampota, and their two children — Jacklin Joyce, 3, and Forest Todd, 1 1/2, per his obituary.

The minor league player spent time with the Houston Astros, Minnesota Twins and Los Angeles Dodgers during his career.
“We are deeply saddened to hear of the tragic passing of Jon Kenner over the weekend,” the Astros said in a statement released on Wednesday, April 15, per Chron. "Jon was drafted by the Astros in 2013 and developed into one of the organization’s most productive players, advancing to the Triple A level and also appearing in several Spring Training games. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jon’s family and friends during this very difficult time."

Kenner, who is also survived by his parents F. Edward and Jackie Von Henderson Kenner, loved baseball, and started playing as a kid before eventually making the minor league.

Per his obituary, Kenner "lived and and breathed baseball."
He was a standout on the Clarion Bobcats Baseball team at Clarion Area High School before graduating in 2009 and continuing his education at Allegany College of Maryland.
Kenner then played baseball for Clarion University in Clarion, Pa. and later Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon, Ga., before being selected by the Houston Astros in the 21st round of the 2013 MLB Draft.
Kenner spent seven seasons in the minor leagues and two in Mexico before retiring in 2021.
He always lived by his dad’s words, "No pressure, just opportunity," his obit reads.
