Former Michigan State defensive back Justin Denson excelled in his spring game at Purdue, recording one sack, two tackles for loss, and a pass breakup. Denson transferred to Purdue after the 2025 season, having been an All-American prospect in high school.
A former Spartans defensive back had an impressive showing at his new school's spring game.
A Purdue fan account posted some highlights and stats from the Boilermakers' spring game this past weekend highlighting former Spartans defensive back Justin Denson. The account, JTBoiler, stated Denson had "a good day at the safety spot" and recorded one sack, two tackles for loss and a pass breakup in limited action.
You can see the highlights of Denson in the embedded social media account below:
Denson transferred to Purdue after the 2025 season. He was an All-American prospect out of high school in the 2024 class, picking the Spartans over offers from Alabama, Oklahoma, Florida and other marquee programs. However, his role at Michigan State in his two seasons in East Lansing, Mich. was primarily as a backup.
He appeared in 11 games across his two seasons at Michigan State, recording 15 tackles. This past season, he only saw action in three games for the Spartans.
Based on the strong showing in the Boilermakers' spring game this past weekend, I'm assuming we will be seeing plenty of him in the fall for Purdue. Michigan State, though, doesn't play Purdue this upcoming season so there will be no direct battle between the Spartans and Denson this year.
