Former Oregon State center commits to Oklahoma

Oklahoma basketball coach Porter Moser continued adding to his 2026-27 roster with a large, literally, pick up on Monday.

Former Oregon State center Yaak Yaak committed to the Sooners after entering the transfer portal late last month. The 6-foot-11 big man should provide depth and physicality on the interior after averaging 6.6 points and 2.2 rebounds with the Beavers over nine starts last year. He shot 51% from the floor and 83% from the line.

Yaak's commitment follows another from an expected frontcourt rotational player after Akoldah Gak committed from the G League Monday morning. Those two players will join Kai Rogers, who committed to Oklahoma in April, to provide Oklahoma with plenty of size at the center position.

Overall, Moser has added five players from the portal this offseason. Khani Rooths also plays in the frontcourt, while Tyler Hendricks works as a wing and Pop Isaacs plays at guard.

Rotationally, expect returning forward Derrion Reid to play alongside some combination of Rooths and freshman Gage Mayfield with either Gak or Yaak at center and Xzayvier Brown teaming on the perimeter with Isaacs, Hendricks and Dayton Forsythe.

Oklahoma finished the 2025-26 season with an overall record of 21-16 and 7-11 in the Southeastern Conference. After a slow start in Southeastern Conference play saw the Sooners sitting at just 1-19, OU finished strong and just missed the NCAA Tournament. Instead, Oklahoma played in the College Basketball Crown tournament, making the finals before losing to champion West Virginia.
