The Boston Red Sox traded Kyle Harrison to the Milwaukee Brewers this offseason, and he just had a career-best game on Sunday.
Against the Pittsburgh Pirates, he had 12 strikeouts and allowed one hit in six innings of work. He issued just one walk. The 12 strikeouts were the most he's had in a game in his career. He also got 23 whiffs. It was the most whiffs of any pitcher on Sunday. Harrison has a 2.28 ERA with the Brewers now.
The centerpiece coming back to the Red Sox in the deal that sent Harrison to Milwaukee was Caleb Durbin. Durbin had a strong rookie year with the Brewers, but is off to a slow start with the Red Sox. He is hitting .169 with a .530 OPS. However, he does seem to be heating up. Durbin still has plenty of time to get on track, just like Harrison has time to decline. However, right now, it looks like the Red Sox were better off hanging on to him.
The Brewers have been known to develop pitching well, so it may not be a huge surprise that Harrison is thriving. However, it is a shock to see just how dominant he has been. The Red Sox would have loved to keep him around, but given that they have and , who have both looked great this year, they are likely not beating themselves up too badly.

The real winner of the Red Sox and Brewers trade from the offseason will not be determined for years. However, Harrison looks like he can be a key member of the Brewers' rotation while Durbin is still trying to prove himself in Boston.
The Red Sox rotation is not currently lacking talent, but there's no such thing as too many good pitchers, and Harrison could have been a great piece to keep around.
