Chase Claypool's NFL comeback with the Green Bay Packers has stalled as the team did not offer him a contract after his tryout. There are currently no plans to revisit the opportunity.
Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool and his NFL comeback bid with the Green Bay Packers have hit some bad news.
According to a report from Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2, the Packers didn't offer a deal to Claypool after his tryout, and there's "no plan to revisit at this time."
Claypool, who was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 49th overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, had a great two-year start to his career, catching 121 passes for 1,733 yards and 11 touchdowns.
In 2022, he was traded to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a second-round draft pick that would eventually become cornerback Joey Porter Jr.. He was traded once again from Chicago to the Miami Dolphins in 2023.
Claypool began to recapture some of the magic of his early career as an offseason standout with the Buffalo Bills, but a torn ligament and tendon in his toe led to his release and an almost two-year absence from the NFL.
